In the Merriam-Webster dictionary globalization is defined as “the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets”. Globalization has been growing more and more rapidly around the world. Other countries such as India are moving up on the spectrum when it comes to producing and being a part of name brand companies and their products. Globalization can bring societies and countries together; it has a huge impact on change in our world.

I am sort of caught in the middle as to how I feel about globalization. I do believe that it is benefitting other countries out there to take over on some of the production of supplies, as well as take over doing customer service support. Countries that once were in extreme poverty have begun to pull themselves out creating new jobs in the market for a lot more of their countries’ citizens. They people are getting good educations when they enter this work field, as well as being given the opportunity to live life like we as Americans get to. Globalization is also taking some of the work off of us in America, leaving us to have more free time. Sending the labor back to other countries allows the business to create a bigger supply for what is being demanded. These are all positive aspects of globalization.

I do think there are some drawbacks to globalization as well. Sending these jobs back to other countries is cutting our job market back significantly here in the United States. There are so many that are unemployed because we are losing the jobs that we once had here. Also, these countries are learning how we work and operate, which isn’t exactly a good thing. They are moving up in the world and want to pass us, soon if we don’t cut back they will. Our country is going through a difficult time right now, and if we brought some of the jobs back to us in America we might be able to climb back up some of the way. Also working conditions over in these other countries are not so great. Since they are willing to work for anything, their working conditions are terrible. These people are working long hours, sometimes days and the facilities are dirty and unsanitary. Some of them are also getting paid small salaries, when they should be making a little more.
There is a lot to look at when it comes to globalization. There are the good and the bad aspects of it. What we all should do is come to an arrangement that is fair. But, we don’t want these other countries to pass us by in the international economic trade world.

Globalization is can be key to helping people in other countries create a much needed source of income but should go along with asking for higher standards in terms of working conditions and human rights. Thanks for the blog.
You're right, globalization has its pros and cons. Outsourcing of U.S. jobs is probably never going to stop, so hopefully in the future companies that decide to outsource will do so with the higher standards most Americans would like to see. Unfortunately, most companies are not interested in doing things that will negatively affect their bottom line. Economics and ethics sometimes have an uneasy relationship. A change in the corporate culture will only happen if we all put pressure on companies to treat workers in developing countries with respect.
